If this sounds right for you, Metro will train you to operate a 40-foot bus, PAL van and even a rail car, if needed. We will pay you while you train, and make sure you are ready for the best job you’ll ever have.

Time Off

Within the first three years, operators may qualify for time off with pay.
  • 5 days of vacation earned through first year (10 days earned though 2 year)
  • 3 personal days
  • 8 sick days
  • 2 floating holidays
  • 11 paid holidays

Full Time

40 hours a week guaranteed.

Attendance Bonus

Metro appreciates dedication. Operators can earn up to an additional $1,750 per year by maintaining perfect attendance.

Longevity Pay

Metro also appreciates loyalty. Operators have the opportunity to earn up to $1,800 per year in longevity pay.

Uniform Allowance

Metro wants you to look good. Operators can receive up to $400 per year to purchase Metro uniform wear.

The Ultimate Transit Pass

NFTA employees receive an ID card valid as fare on Metro Bus or Metro Rail anytime.

Student Loan Forgiveness

Metro appreciates people working in public service jobs. You may qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Cellular Phone Discounts

The NFTA has agreements with many cellular phone providers. Savings range from 19-25%, depending on provider.

Deferred Compensation Pre-tax Savings Plan

Metro offers enrollment in the NYS Deferred Compensation. It allows you to put aside money from each paycheck toward your retirement in a pre-tax account.
